A Wanderful Weekend: WITS16 image

The Women in Travel Summit is the first travel blog conference that’s run by women for women. Wanderful is an international community of women who travel. Our mission is to connect women travelers together by empowering them with the tools they need to go abroad and facilitating a trusted network that can help guide them in their journeys. We created the Women in Travel Summit after we realized that there was a real need for professional women and self-starters in travel to share their experiences with one another both in the working world and as members of our global community. WITS does just that — a fusion of hands-on, applicable workshops and networking to inspire and empower one another to ...

Winter Tribe Meetup image

Colorado Instameet A few months ago I moved to Colorado and have been exploring as much as possible. I’ve followed Jacob Moon for a while and love his photography. When the #WinterTribeMeetup he organized popped up in my Instagram feed, inviting us to join him and his wife Natasha on an amazing winter adventure in Colorado, I was immediately interested. Why go? Meet Jacob + Natasha? Make new friends that have similar interests and plan future adventures? Go winter camping with the experts? Learn how to make a proper snow cave? Plan to sleep in a tent but end up sleeping in a snow cave? Get out of your comfort zone? Night photography? Winter fun? YES to all the above! While those ...

December Delights image

Happy Holidays December consisted of nights out, get togethers, decorating and baking. With all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it’s good to remember that what is really important is spending time with the people you love. A Merry Little Christmas Growing up Christmas was always a large gathering of my moms family in New York. Last year I went to New York for Thanksgiving and spent Christmas with my dad and brother in Maryland. This year it was just my mom and I (and the dogs of course) in Colorado. It is always wonderful being around family during the holidays, but to be honest I find it is often stressful and a little chaotic. The last two ...

Fall in Colorado image

One of the things I was most excited about moving to Colorado in September was exploring in fall. The air is crisp and cool. The vibrant aspen trees cover the landscape mountains in yellow and the sun creates a golden glow over the mountains. Yes, most people here are excited for snow because it means skiing/snowboarding, but I will admit winter is not my favorite season. “Autumn…the year’s last, loveliest smile.” ― William Cullen Bryant September I moved the first weekend in September and a week later was off to California with my sister for a belated birthday trip. While there wasn’t too much time in Colorado to explore I did have an impromptu day trip to Vail. Aspens + ...

Remembering Pearl Harbor image

December 7, 1941 “A date which will live in infamy.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt Growing up in the United States we are taught all about the attack at Pearl Harbor in history classes. We know just before 8am on December 7, 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. In just two hours the Japanese destroyed 20 American naval vessels, including 8 battleships, and 300+ airplanes. More than 2,000 Americans soldiers and sailors lost their lives in the attack with another 1,000 wounded. We know this led to President Franklin D. Roosevelt declaring war on Japan. America joined World War II. Seeing Pearl Harbor in person Today, December 7th, is a day to remember. With tragic ...

Introducing SugarSky image

It’s an amazing thing when you network and meet people (and brands) that really speak to you. Skyler, founder/owner of SugarSky, is one of those positive, empowering women I connected instantly with last month and I’m thrilled to introduce. What is SugarSky? A handmade in the USA headwear business specifically geared towards those who love adventure, travel, and the beautiful outdoors (yes, yes, and yes). A little background Sky is originally from Mississippi but has traveled all over, and is currently living in Georgia. Although a construction engineer by degree, her entrepreneur spirit led to SugarSky. She had started a division inside a software company and was holding a Director level position managing a fairly large team, but slowly grew to ...
