Thursday Thoughts: Thanksgiving image

As Colby from The Giving Lens said on Facebook, “While I have serious issues with the founding of this holiday, especially in light of what is happening with the Dakota Pipeline protests, I do appreciate the idea of being thankful and mindful of the world around us.” There is always something to be thankful for and Thanksgiving is the best time to remember, thank and appreciate the many blessings that life brings you.  From family, friends, my dog, traveling, new adventures, good health, etc. I have a ton to be thankful for! If I have to pick just one thing this year though, it would be Colorado. Yes, that’s broad but it’s true… I’m thankful for living in such a naturally ...

Pros + Cons of Working Abroad image

(photo source: Ryusuke Komori) Thinking to Work Abroad? Are you moving across the ocean to begin a new career? Millions of expats traverse the breadth of the globe every year seeking work abroad, but what are the pros and cons of finding a career on foreign shores? Pro: Amazing Independence When we hit our late teens and early twenties, it’s natural to begin thinking about breaking free from the nest and forging our own way in the world. That isn’t always easy to do – with the security of our parents often proving too tempting for a lot of people to break away from. Moving overseas is extreme, but it’s probably the best way to ensure you’re tackling the big ...

REVIEW: Sydney BridgeClimb image

In my last post, What’s in store for AYF, I shared there will be 5 main categories + 1 post on each monthly starting in July. One of those categories was reviews, with this being the first. Should you do the BridgeClimb when visiting Sydney? Returning from Australia many people asked how my experience was and if I’d recommend the BridgeClimb, so here it is… One word: YES (and I’m not just saying that because I am living by just say yes these days) The experience + Helpful tips In May I explored Melbourne, Cairns and Sydney with my twin sister. From the start, there were a few bucket list adventures we prioritized and doing the BridgeClimb in Sydney was one of them. As ...

A Wanderful Weekend: WITS16 image

The Women in Travel Summit is the first travel blog conference that’s run by women for women. Wanderful is an international community of women who travel. Our mission is to connect women travelers together by empowering them with the tools they need to go abroad and facilitating a trusted network that can help guide them in their journeys. We created the Women in Travel Summit after we realized that there was a real need for professional women and self-starters in travel to share their experiences with one another both in the working world and as members of our global community. WITS does just that — a fusion of hands-on, applicable workshops and networking to inspire and empower one another to ...

Global Degree Update image

Onto the next opportunity Back in December I shared the first Global Degree post, which included my video entry and more info about the contest. The winner was announced yesterday and life has another path for me. Being completely honest Sitting in one of the last presentations at WITS yesterday, my heart dropped when I got a notification that the winner was announced… and unfortunately I will not be joining the team. First off, I want to say congratulations to Andrew Santos! The video was very creative and well done, and in a few weeks he’ll be embarking on a life changing trip. Today I have been reading a lot of comments on social media regarding the winner and that many of the ...

First trips of 2016. Where to? image

Upcoming Domestic + International Trip 2016 started off rough but March is going to be, and already has been, a great month for many reasons. A few possible opportunities in the works but for now, happy to share this weekend I will be heading to California and in 10 days I’ll be on a plane to Australia! Irvine, California One year ago I attended Women in Travel Summit (WITS’15), the first and only travel blogging summit by and for women, in Boston, MA. The conference brought together 300 women with a passion for travel. It was overwhelming (in the best way possible) being around so many beautiful, adventurous, curious, creative, passionate, and inspirational like-minded women (read more). This weekend I will be in ...
