World Peace Day image

September 21: Peace. Compassion. Understanding. Love. You might remember my post back in August for World Photo Day. Today is World Peace Day, or International Day of Peace. Strive for peace What is it? “Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All” which aims to highlight the importance of all segments of society to work together to strive for peace.” For more: World Peace Day Power of travel Having the privilege over the last few years to ...

September Reflecting image

9.11 First off… as this beautiful day begins, today is different. It marks the 14th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in the USA. I remember this day 14 years ago well, sitting in english class in middle school. There was a somber feel and erie silence that spread around the building. The evening was spent watching the horrible footage and updates from the day. So many powerful and heartbreaking images. My thoughts are with the families and friends of those who died, as well as with the many survivors, volunteers and first responders. Remember You never know what each new day has in store. People aboard the flights had bags packed they would not live to open. People left for work thinking ...

Thursday Thoughts: Cecil + Protecting wildlife image

Thursday Thoughts There are a few different blog series I want to start, with the first being Thursday Thoughts. Content will range from recently read articles to new destinations. The main purpose of these is to get YOU to share your thoughts. We all have stories and feedback that can benefit someone else + I would love to hear from you! Cecil the Lion I posted on Instagram and Facebook for #WorldLionDay and #WorldElephantDay but want to share more about it here. What happened? I’m moving! A new adventure awaits image

Goodbye Washington, DC. Hello Colorado. It’s my birthday month and I’ve got some exciting news to share! Back in January I made a promise to myself that 2015 would be the year to leave everything and travel. To take advantage of any opportunity to discover this beautiful planet. I certainly have traveled, exploring more countries + states in the USA this year than ever before. It has been absolutely incredible and I don’t plan on stopping. With that said, I’ve been seeking a big change since I went to Western Australia (WA) last June. While WA is still where my heart is (priority to move there in 2016) I am trying to plan less and seize new opportunities as they ...

What do people who have gone on a Contiki tour really think? At a Glance: Taste of Europe image

After returning home from my month overseas in March, I spent April + May working on freelance design projects and launched Adjust Your Focus™. While I love being home, after about a month the travel bug bites. One of my best friends, Holly and I had been talking about exploring Europe for a while and finally decided to make that a reality in June! Image below: Sammy had some thoughts about my packing, climbing into my suitcase. How cute is he? So what happened? Spent a very busy two weeks exploring… 4 countries, 6 cities, 3 flights, 3 airlines, 1 ferry, 2 hop on bus tours and 1 crazy Contiki coach. I left with hundreds of photos, many new friends, countless ...
